Although advances in cosmetic dental services have made it possible to restore health and beauty to even the most badly damaged teeth, it is always ideal to preserve as much of the structural integrity of one's original teeth as possible. A healthy smile is truly a blessing, which is why Dr. Stephen T. Carosello has devoted his career to helping his patients achieve and maintain optimum oral health. At our practice, we not only provide exceptional dental care, we also take the time to educate our patients about proper oral hygiene and active measures they can take to ensure the long-term health of their mouths. One of the most important of these measures is to schedule regular dental examinations and cleanings, even for those patients who believe themselves to be possessed of flawless oral health.
At the practice of Dr. Stephen T. Carosello, we can help you to preserve the natural beauty of your smile by diagnosing and treating potential oral health problems in their earliest stages. Our office features state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that allow us to detect these problems before they have a chance to progress, minimizing the likelihood that you will require more drastic treatments at a later date. By using digital x-rays and panorex films in combination with the Logicon Digital caries analysis system, Dr. Carosello has the ability to identify even the slightest signs of decay in the enamel of your teeth. Likewise, the revolutionary DIAGNOdent® laser gives Dr. Carosello the ability to detect hidden decay in the dentin. Learn more about the laser dentistry services we offer.
In addition to preventive dentistry, we also offer a full range of restorative and other general dentistry treatments at our practice in the greater Cleveland area, including quality dentures, TMJ treatment, and dental implants.

Truly, the best defense against tooth and gum disease is prevention.
For patients who are missing one or more of their original teeth, Dr. Carosello is proud to work with other respected dental professionals in the Cleveland area to provide functional, cosmetically attractive dental implants. Implant dental services involve the placement of strong titanium posts directly into the jaw. These posts act as replacement tooth roots, onto which completely natural looking, custom crafted artificial teeth are attached. Aside from restoring the freedom and confidence that patients had with their original teeth, dental implants are also remarkably versatile, with the ability to support a single restoration, a bridge, or even a complete set of dentures. As a result, patients who are fitted with dental implants are able once again to chew, speak, and smile with renewed poise, assurance, and control.
Although the process of installing dental implants is a lengthy one, Dr. Carosello can fit you with a set of temporary restorations until your dental implants have been fully integrated into your jaw. Once the implants have fused with the jaw, they will remain permanently in place, making them an ideal option for many patients who wish to regain the control they had with their original teeth. To learn more about exceptional dental implants in the greater Cleveland area, please contact our dentistry practice in Mentor today.
Dr. Carosello is pleased to provide both partial and full dentures for his Cleveland area patients. Our dentures are completely customized around the specific individual needs of our patients, and they will precisely match the color of any existing, healthy teeth. Your custom dentures will be specially fitted to your mouth to ensure maximum comfort and benefit.
Full Dentures
For patients in the Cleveland area that have lost all their teeth, full dentures are a necessity. Whether you choose to be fitted with implant-supported dentures or traditional removable dentures, you can be assured of a secure, comfortable fit.
Cleveland residents seeking information about custom dentures should contact Dr. Carosello today.
Partial Dentures
Missing teeth can cause a variety of chewing and speaking problems for our patients near Cleveland. Dentures are often the best way to rectify this problem. Partial dentures, which are strong and virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth, can facilitate chewing, speaking, and smiling.
Cleveland residents seeking information about partial dentures should contact Dr. Carosello today.
Another outstanding option for patients with missing teeth, dental bridges are crafted from strong, durable porcelain to ensure the most natural looking results possible. Comprised of artificial teeth that are supported by a crown on either end, dental bridges are fixed in the mouth so that they cannot be removed by hand. By filling the spaces where teeth are missing, bridges not only repair aesthetic and mechanical flaws in the mouth, but they also prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of their natural position.
For patients who prefer, dental bridges can also be fixed in the mouth by means of dental implants, which offer a more permanent solution to missing teeth. For more information about dental implants, bridges, or any other dentistry procedure, Cleveland area residents are invited to contact Dr. Carosello today.
Dental crowns are ideal for patients with teeth that have been weakened by decay or trauma, as well as those with teeth that are cracked or in danger of cracking in the future. Unlike porcelain veneers, dental crowns are customized to cover the entire surface area of damaged teeth. As a result, they not only conceal a variety of aesthetic flaws, but they also restore strength to these weaker teeth, often reducing or eliminating any discomfort these damaged teeth may have been causing in the process.
Crafted from porcelain, dental crowns enable our patients to restore both health and beauty to their smiles. To ensure a better fit of your crowns and other dental restorations, we use iTero technology. This allows us to get an accurate fit so your crowns feel natural. To learn more about quality dental crowns, please feel free to contact our office in Mentor today.
Dr. Carosello is proud to offer his patients aesthetically pleasing tooth-colored fillings that provide excellent protection against further decay. For patients with existing metal fillings, Dr. Carosello offers a filling replacement service. During this procedure, Dr. Carosello will remove the metal filling and replace it with a more durable and natural looking tooth-colored filling. Tooth-colored fillings not only offer a more aesthetic alternative to traditional metal and mercury fillings, but they also offer a potentially safer alternative.
Made from porcelain, inlays and onlays are also sometimes referred to as indirect fillings. They are customized to fit into areas of the teeth that have been damaged by decay or trauma - inlays, to repair damage inside of a tooth; onlays, to repair damage on the surface of a tooth.
Currently, thousands of individuals suffer from the symptoms of TMJ disorder throughout America, including many in greater Cleveland. TMJ treatment can help to provide relief for symptoms such as headaches, earaches, tenderness of the jaw muscles, and dull, aching facial pain.
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder can be caused by a variety of muscle and joint problems. Often the muscles and joints that make up the jaw simply do not function together properly. Although there is no single treatment that can fully cure TMJ disorder, there are a variety of treatments that can help to alleviate pain and prevent further damage from occurring to the jaw area. Some of the treatments Dr. Carosello provides to his Cleveland area patients suffering from TMJ disorder include jaw realignment, prescription anti-inflammatory medications, and laser treatment (referrals to other specialists are considered if necessary). By realigning the jaw, the pain, grating and clicking of the jaw can often be corrected. The medication can reduce inflammation in the jaw area and reduce pain. There is also a variety of jaw exercises that can be used to relax the muscles and improve mobility in the jaw area.
Those Cleveland area residents seeking treatment for TMJ disorder are invited to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Carosello at his Mentor office today.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with periodontal disease, you might be interested to know there is a new method to treat the condition called Perio Protect™. I use this method in my office. Perio Protect™ is designed for the patient to use at home. It is simple, doesn't require a lot of time, and is painless.
The problem with gum disease is the infection that gets deep below the gum line, causing disease, decay, and tooth and bone loss. With Perio Protect™, a patient gets custom-molded trays and very small amounts of bacteria specific medicine. These trays help to create a "positive" pressure to overcome the flow of fluid coming out of the diseased gum pockets. This allows the medication to reach to the deepest areas to kill the bacteria causing the infection. The dentist designs a program specifically for each patient, and these medicine-containing dental molds are taken home and worn by the patient for a specified time each day. As progress is made, the amount of time and the frequency with which the dental trays are used is modified. It can be used on a good number of patients, but it is not right for everyone.
Some of the benefits include how easy it is for the patient to follow the Perio Protect™ regimen. It can help reduce the bad breath associated with periodontal disease, and, as treatment progresses, the bleeding and swelling of the gums decreases. Infrequently, patients can be allergic to the materials used. The cost is significantly less than periodontal surgery. However, please understand it may not eliminate the need for a surgical procedure. If you have additional questions about Perio Protect™, contact our office.
