OraVerse

There is an option available for patients who don't like the feeling of numbness, slurring their words  and drooling after being numbed for dental procedures. It is called OraVerse®.  This medication is injected into the same area where a patient is numbed for the procedure, right after the dental work is done. Studies have shown that, with this injection, the numbness wears off approximately 50% faster and the drooling associated with the numbness may be minimized.

OraVerse® is used to help reverse the numbness when a local anesthetic with a vasoconstrictor (a medicine that constricts blood vessels) is administered in soft tissue procedures. It is not indicated for patients under the age of six or less than 33 pounds, and has not been studied in pregnant women. The most common reported side effect was pain at the injection site, although other side effects have been noted.

Our staff would be pleased to talk with you about this potential option.
